Stilecroft Residential Home is a large Victorian building situated in Workington. With beautifully landscaped gardens, our home has a host of well-decorated rooms, many of which offer stunning views across the River Derwent and Millfield.
Just like the industrial town which surrounds us, our residents at Stilecroft are bound together by a strong feeling of community and compassion. We are all in this together, but especially our staff, who have been trained to provide exceptional levels of care and support at all times.
A care home and a community with a big heart.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information

Workington has a long and rich local history. From the town’s involvement in the development of professional football, to its role at the forefront of steel production throughout the Industrial Revolution and later its unique and pivotal role during the Second World War. For a small town, we have a big history, and a lot to be proud of and reminisce about.
Here at Stilecroft, our exceptional carers echo those same values of industry and integrity so important to the history of Workington. Care is provided 24 hours a day by a loyal team of compassionate staff members, all of whom are highly trained and have considerable experience working within care home environments.
Inside our home, Stilecroft provides only the highest levels of comfort and homeliness, for individuals requiring a range of different types of care. Whether it is independent residential care you require or more hands on dementia/Alzheimer’s care, our carers, and this beautiful building we call home, will always be there for you.
To provide the care that is most appropriate for your loved ones, we undertake a thorough analysis of their needs and requirements. At Stilecroft, our long-serving team is experienced and able to adapt to a range of situations, providing exceptional and effective care as an utmost priority. Amongst other forms of daily care, our carers here specialise in:

Loneliness in our senior years can easily occur if we shy away from socialising or staying active. That’s why, at Stilecroft, we ensure your loved ones are trying at least one new thing every day. Our Activity Coordinator organises a range of indoor and outdoor activities to keep us happy and entertained every day, most of which take place in our large and spacious communal room:
We even have some ongoing group projects such as developing a communal garden to make our own produce. For a more detailed look at the activities on offer across the MPS Care Group, please visit our activities page.
At Stilecroft, we know that the food we eat is such an important part of our day. That’s why we’ve partnered with apetito, the leading food producer for the health and social care sector, to bring gloriously tasty and nutritional meals to our residents on a daily basis.
With the help of apetito, our varied and balanced meals ensure that your loved ones stay fit and healthy during their time with us. We also make efforts to enjoy this delicious food together, with meal times acting as a fantastic opportunity to chat and talk about the day with friends.
If you’d like to take a more detailed look at our partnership with apetito, or to browse a selection of the menus available at any of MPS Care Group’s homes, please visit our dining experiences page.
